Nutra-Life Gut Relief contain four key digestion-supporting herbs:
Slippery Elm Bark: originally used by Native American herbalists to help relieve gut irritation and inflamed bowel conditions, Slippery Elm Bark is used in much the same way today to help with symptoms of gastritis, indigestion, reflux, peptic ulcers, IBS and Crohn’s Disease. The bark is rich in a compound called “mucilage” that helps to soothe the gut lining by forming a protective coating when it mixes with water. It is also an excellent source of nutrients (e.g. starch, glucose, Calcium, Iron, Vitamin C, Zinc, and Magnesium) that nourish the cells of the gastrointestinal tract, allowing them to repair themselves.
Aloe Vera: The inner part of Aloe vera leaves contains a clear, polysaccharide-rich gel that helps to soothe the digestive system, calm an inflamed gut lining and support immune function. The leaves are also a rich source of several nutrients, including Vitamins A, C, E, B1, B3, B12, and Folic Acid; as well as the minerals Sodium, Calcium, Potassium, Manganese, Magnesium, Copper, Chromium, Zinc and Iron. These nutrients all help to support healthy intestinal function.
Grape Seed: an excellent source of a special kind of antioxidant compounds called Oligomeric Procyanidins (OPCs). Known for their ability to protect the body from the effects of free radical molecules in the environment and support heart health, OPCs also help to protect intestinal tract cells, support detoxification and help to reduce inflammation.
Globe Artichoke: a bitter tonic herb with antioxidant properties that supports and helps to protect an overburdened liver and digestive system. Because Globe Artichoke can also help to soothe and/or prevent spasms, it may be useful for customers with medically-diagnosed IBS. Other more traditional uses for this herb include helping to relieve symptoms of poor liver function such as indigestion, nausea and itchy skin; and stimulating bile flow in the liver, which then supports better digestion of fats.
In addition to the digestive and liver-supporting herbs, Nutra-Life Gut Relief also contains:
Glutamine: a vital amino acid that intestinal, liver and immune system cells all use as fuel. Because it plays an important role in helping to repair intestinal cells, good Glutamine levels are essential to maintain gut lining integrity. The body also uses Glutamine to create the natural antioxidant glutathione, which helps to protect the gut lining from free radical damage.
Antioxidant nutrients: Vitamins A and C, plus MSM and Quercetin all combine to help protect the delicate cells in the gut from the free radical damage that usually accompanies inflammation. MSM helps further by acting as a natural anti-inflammatory for irritated gut tissue; and because it provides a source of Sulfur, it also assists with liver function and detoxification. Vitamin C also plays a key role in helping the body to create collagen – a key protein in intestinal connective tissue.
